Regional programs and county data, easy for local leaders to use

MAAG's visitors ranged from people looking for housing help to local leaders who needed demographic detail on a county. We brought programs, county resources and demographic maps into one WordPress site that served both.

The problem

At the time, the Memphis Area Association of Governments supported a five-county Memphis region through planning and community-development programs. Its old website wasn’t organized around what people came to do, and it needed a new one that was easier to use.

What we did

We reviewed the old site and reorganized the planning, GIS and community-development content around what people needed to use. County imagery and a green palette tied it to the region.

ESRI maps brought in census-tract demographics, and custom county maps showed roads, schools, hospitals and parks. WordPress also handled the calendar, news, team and board pages and rotating testimonials.

What changed

Someone looking for a program and someone looking for county data could both find their way from the same site, with the right map for the question. MAAG’s programs, news and regional data lived together on one WordPress site.
